You all know what early April means… IT’S SUMMER MOVIE POOL TIME! Our site is actively being scrubbed clean of 2025 content and will soon be ready for everyone to jump in and make their 2026 selections. SMP XXVII is on!
Note – The site will be available to make picks by Saturday April 18. A notification email will go out to all 2025 players when ready to proceed. Now is a great time to start planning your selections.
2025 RECAP
The #1 movie of the summer, Lilo & Stitch ($423M), was the lowest-grossing winner since 2017’s Wonder Woman ($407M). However, the #10 movie Weapons ($132M) was the second-highest earner at that spot since 2015’s Straight Outta Compton ($135.4). For only the 14th time in SMP history (dating back to 1998) did we have a Top 10 movie go unpicked by all players (#10 Weapons).
In a rather challenging summer, only 2 players had 9 correct picks. And our winner THOMAS F did a phenomenal job with his placements to have a Deviation Score end as a single digit. This was also the 18th time in our 26 years that a first timer was crowned. Nice job Thomas! Everyone below made $$$, even our Bonehead Award winner.

2026 RULES
The rules are the same as always, and are posted on the Pool Rules page of the site. A quick summary:
- The pool officially runs from May 1 to Aug 31.
- The 2026 entry deadline is Thursday April 30 at 11:59pm PT.
- The Entry Fee is $10.00 and due by Saturday May 2.
- To play you must be registered on this website as a User.
- Prior year players already have a User account on the site and can reset their own password, if needed.
- New players are to email the Pool Administrators at summermoviepool@gmail.com to request a User account; a Registration link will be sent via email.
- CAPTCHA has been enabled for logins to ensure site security.
- Entries will be submitted via pick selection on the website’s Pick Movies page.
- Participants will submit their Top 10 list of movies in the specific order they will finish.
- The only eligible movies are those that are released domestically within the listed date range.
- The final box office earnings for May 1-Aug 31 will be tallied on Sept 1, which is when the SMP winner will be determined.
- The player with the highest # of correct Top 10 picks wins.
- In the event of a tie, the Deviation Score will be calculated among all contenders’ picks with that same score.
- There will always be a 1st Place + 2nd Place + Bonehead Award prize.
Entry payment instructions were provided in the email invite, and will be provided directly to players as needed.
