Even with a $25M opening weekend from newcomer Insidious: Out of the Further, both Spider-Man ($39M) and Odyssey ($19M) continue to kick ass with a combined $1.4B. That’s B as in BILLION.

Holdover News
- #1 Spider-Man: Brand New Day ($39.0M) finally saw a better-than-50% hold (-44.8%) in its 4th weekend. Its 4-week multiplier of 2.37x is less than ideal, but at $854.9M and counting no one cares. Now #2 All Time, the final obstacle is the top grossing film ever in 2015’s Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens ($936.6M). SW7 may not fall by the end of the SMP, but it’s eventually going down!
- #2 The Odyssey ($19.7M) enjoyed a fantastic hold (-16.5%) in its 6th weekend. At $539.2M it moved 3 spots to #20 All Time. Next up is 2019’s The Lion King ($543.6M).
- #3 Toy Story 5 ($1.1M) at $477.9M is now #27 All Time. Next on the list is 2016’s Finding Dory ($486.3M). It’s not going any higher this summer.
- #4 Obsession is done at $263.4M.
- #5 The Devil Wears Prada 2 is done at $220.6M.
- #6 Backrooms is finally done at $197.5M after 12 weekends.
- #7 Minions & Monsters ($754K) is locked in place at $182.0M after 8 weekends.
- #8 Mandalorian and Grogu is done at $177.7M.
- #9 Moana ($483K) is locked in place at $125.7M after 7 weekends.
- #10 Disclosure Day is done at $116.6M.
Next Weekend: The final 4 Wide-release movies of the summer open on Friday, with Coyote vs. ACME (selected by 1 player) being the last to track. The current leader for the Bonehead Award is The Furious at $6.5M, so the tracking of $9-12M for Coyote might make Ed A another “winner”.
